Agrado Cosmetic wins the Product of the Year award in the facial care category

The Valencian perfume and cosmetics brand Agrado Cosmetic, part of the RGC Group, has received the Product of the Year award at the 25th Grand Prize for Innovation, following a survey of more than 10,000 people representing the Spanish population.

The award-winning product was the Hyaluronic Hydra Glow facial cream from the company's new facial care brand Agrado Skin Positive.

“Innovation for the consumer means finding a totally on-trend product with four-dimensional facial hydration (Hyaluronic 4d) combined with natural micas for a sublime glow skin effect, in a gel-cream texture, with more sustainable packaging (a tube cap and cardboard), offering a spectacular quality-price ratio, which is what consumers themselves rated most highly in the Grand Prix test, obtaining the highest rating in the category,” highlights Susana Orts, marketing director at RGC.

“This is an award that undoubtedly provides the company with significant added value in terms of innovation. It has been a major challenge in formulation and development, and it allows us to enter a category like facials, which requires highly qualified know-how and equipment, as well as an advanced laboratory and optimal production facilities,” says Alicia Soler, Director of Regulatory R&D.

This is the second time in 2024 that Agrado Cosmetic has received an award, adding to the one already achieved by the company for its Bronceacare sun product in terms of marketing and communication strategy, granted by AEDA (Spanish Aerosol Association).

Product of the Year is the only national competition in which consumers choose the year's most innovative consumer products. The competition was founded in France in 1987 and is currently held in more than 30 countries across five continents. This year marks its 25th anniversary in Spain, the first country to internationalize the award.

The Spanish winners were selected following a study conducted last October among Netquest and Samplia's consumer panel on a selection of new products launched between January 1, 2023, and October 31, 2024, in the Food, Hygiene-Cosmetics, Drugstore, Household Appliances, Household, Parapharmacy, Bazaar, and Services sectors.

The more than 10,000 consumers surveyed rated each candidate's innovation and purchase intent. In addition, a product test was conducted with 100 consumers per participant to assess a wide range of qualities, such as value for money, packaging, taste, fragrance, effectiveness, etc., as well as post-test purchase intent and areas for improvement for each product.

At the ceremony held at the Eslava Theater in Madrid, the 52 nominations chosen as Product of the Year were announced.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Blanca Gener, the competition's general director, and Mag Lari, brought together more than 300 guests, including top representatives of the award-winning companies and prominent figures from the business, marketing, and communications worlds, becoming a major celebration of innovation. The event was opened by Ángel Niño, Councilor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council, and was sponsored by Smurfit Westrock and Directia.

The award-winning products will be identified throughout 2025 with the Product of the Year logo in their communications and will benefit from special communication actions promoted by the organization. This recognition is highly valued by consumers, as 77.3% stated that they would purchase a product identified as Product of the Year.

The award recognizes not only manufacturer-brand innovations but also private label innovations. Specifically, 40 manufacturer-brand products and 12 private label products were recognized.

The winners come from 37 different companies, both national and international. Healthcare, the environment, and household products and services continue to be the key innovation trends among the winners.
